Symptoms of Diabetes

High blood glucose (Hyperglycemia) causes symptoms

Most of the symptoms of diabetes are related to high blood sugar. In early Type 2 Diabetes the blood sugar levels are still moderate causing only minor symptoms that can be misinterpreted. Since the symptoms commence gradually, initially Type 2 Diabetes is often silent and may exist for many years without the individual noticing it. However, very high blood sugar may cause the following symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Lethargy
  • Blurred vision
  • Frequent urination
  • Thirst
  • Weight loss
  • Frequent infection
  • Recurrent skin/gum, bladder infection
  • Tingling/numbness of hands/feet
  • Cuts/bruised slow to heal
